Does Yoshidaya Sannoukaku allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Sannoukaku doesn’t publish a tattoo policy, so book a room with its own hot-spring bath or the private bath, Waraku. All five rooms in the Shofuan wing have an open-air bath.

The inn publishes no tattoo rule for its two large baths, Inochi no Izumi and Sachi no Izumi.

The bath

The five Shofuan rooms, Shorai, Shosei, Shoto, Shoroku and Shokei, each have an open-air hot-spring bath, a tatami room and a separate bedroom. In the main building, the three UNO room types have an open-air hot-spring bath and the Para room an indoor one. The inn has the biggest spring flow in Yamashiro, about 100,000 liters (26,400 gal) a day.

The private bath, Waraku, is an indoor bath roomy enough for a family, with a sofa and TV in the changing area. It’s step-free for wheelchairs, and you can adjust the temperature. Staying guests pay ¥2,200 per room for 50 minutes, with slots starting on the hour from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The two large baths, on the 1st and 3rd floors, each have an indoor bath, an open-air bath and a sauna with a cold plunge. They swap between men and women, and are open 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Even the showers run on hot-spring water. These are shared baths with no published tattoo rule.

The hotel

Forty-six rooms, all non-smoking. Para is an accessible room. Check-in is 3 p.m., checkout 11 a.m. Dinner starts at 6, 6:30 or 7 p.m. Wi-Fi is free, and free parking in front holds up to 60 cars.
