Yusen no Yado Yuamu
湧泉の宿 ゆあむ
Does Yusen no Yado Yuamu allow tattoos? In a private bath
The large baths are closed to guests with tattoos, covered or not. Book one of the rooms with a spring-water bath of its own.
The ryokan’s FAQ refuses tattoos of any size in the large baths and doesn’t accept a sleeve or other cover either. There is no private bath to reserve, so the way in is one of the four room types with a bath of their own.
The bath
Four room types have a bath of their own on the spring. Three are Kawami rooms, facing the Haruki River, each with a semi-open-air bath: the 87 m² Suite for up to six, the 67 m² Premium for up to four and the 45 m² Stylish Twin. The ryokan describes their baths as free-flowing from the source, with one tap for the spring and one for cold water so you can set the temperature. The fourth, the 48 m² Superior, has an open-air bath outside the room. Baths in the standard rooms are tap water.
The two shared bathhouses, Yama-no-yu and Kawa-no-yu, each have an indoor bath, an open-air bath and a low-temperature sauna, and they are the ones closed to tattooed guests.
The hotel
A ryokan beside the Haruki River, 240 meters from the Yumura Onsen bus stop. Dinner is kaiseki (a multi-course Japanese meal), with plans built around Kasumi crab or Tajima beef, served in the Oriori dining room added in a 2023 renovation. Check-in is 3 to 7 p.m. and checkout is by 10 a.m. The baths are for staying guests only.
Good to know
- No seal, no sleeve. The shared baths refuse tattoos even when covered.
