湯村温泉 朝野家

Every room has the hot spring in it — the ryokan’s wording is that even the taps at the basin run on it — and six room types have an open-air bath of their own besides. The large bath and the open-air one carry no published rule, so the room is the answer.

Best for: Yumura's water in your own room, in a house that teaches tea and incense

The wording is 全客室温泉付, with 客室のお風呂・洗面の蛇口にいたるまで全て天然かけ流し温泉. No tattoo policy is published; ask when you book if you want one in writing.

Kasenkyo Izutsuya

湯村温泉 佳泉郷 井づつや

One suite, Miyabi, has a source-fed open-air bath of its own; that is the room to book. The eight baths in the rest of the house — the rooftop one, the one underground — carry no published rule.

Best for: The oldest house in town, if the Miyabi suite is free

The suite is described as 源泉温泉露天風呂付き特別室「雅」. One room only, so it is a listing for a booking made early. No tattoo policy is published.

Refresh Park Yumura

リフレッシュパークゆむら

Refused, unless covered: the house rules list tattooed guests among those not admitted and add, in the same line, that a body seal or similar will do. It is a swimsuit facility — five open-air baths up a long flight of steps, mixed, with a waterfall bath and a sake-barrel one — so most of the covering is done by the swimsuit anyway. 1,000 yen, ten to seven, closed Thursdays.

Best for: Yumura's water for an afternoon, in a swimsuit, with the tattoo taped

Run by 温泉町夢公社, the town's leisure company. The tourism association's page advertises it as タトゥーOK; the operator's rules are narrower than that, and they are what is quoted here. Swimsuits are required in the open-air baths and the pool, and rented for 500 yen.
