Does Mori no Ryotei Biei allow tattoos? In a private bath
Five detached cottages in the birch woods, each with its own gate, its own water basin and its own open-air tub running on the Shirogane source, which is the kind of arrangement that settles the tattoo question before anyone has to ask it.
The inn publishes no tattoo rule for its shared baths, so treat those as unanswered. Twelve of its seventeen rooms have an open-air bath of their own, and the inn states on its own information page that the room baths run on the source the same way the large baths do, with water or heat added only to hold the temperature. Five of those twelve are detached sukiya-style cottages with their own entrance and approach; the other seven are in the main building with an aohiba wood tub and a balcony to cool off on.

Seventeen rooms: five detached cottages with an open-air bath and a separate washing space, seven main-building rooms with an open-air bath and a balcony, three Japanese-Western rooms and two twins without. Spring type sodium-calcium-magnesium sulfate and chloride; Shirogane water has long been called 杖忘れの湯, the bath that makes you forget your walking stick. The whole building is non-smoking. The site warns that the inn is built on a slope and that stairs and level changes are unavoidable between the rooms and the lobby, baths and dining room. Day bathing 11:00–14:00, 1,200 yen for adults, cash only, closed Mondays, and day visitors may not use the sauna.
