Yumoto Ginsenkaku
湯元銀泉閣
This is the only house in Sounkyo that answers the question in writing. The inn says it refuses the large baths to guests with tattoos as a rule, then lifts the refusal if a single 8 × 10 cm cover seal hides the tattoo, and adds that the guest supplies the seal. Anything wider than a hand is therefore out of the shared baths, but the inn also keeps a family bath, booked by writing your name on the board at the bath entrance on the day, forty minutes a turn.
タトゥーなどを入れたお客様の大浴場のご利用は、原則お断りしています。ただし、8㎝☓10㎝のカバーシール1枚で見えないようカバーしていただいた場合は、この限りではありません。シールはお客様ご自身で持参願います。
Best for: A traveler carrying their own cover seals who wants the one Sounkyo bath that is filled straight from the source
Seven sources between 35 and 80°C are blended to temperature, so the inn says nothing is heated and no water is added; it claims 140 liters a minute. Spring type is given as 弱アルカリ性 低張性中性高温泉. Baths are open to staying guests around the clock; day bathing runs 14:00–20:00 all year, 800 yen for adults and 400 yen for children, with the foot bath and hand bath free. The family bath cannot be reserved in advance: it is a same-day self-booking board at the entrance, forty minutes per turn. Sauna 15:00–22:00, no cold plunge.
