Does Fuji Lake Hotel allow tattoos? In a private bath
Open since 1932 on the Kawaguchiko lakefront, Fuji Lake Hotel has a private bath that is step-free from door to tub and fitted with a hoist for lowering a bather into the water.
Not the public baths: the hotel’s notice for overseas guests says people with tattoos may not use them. The private baths are not named in that sentence. The hinoki bath facing Mount Fuji is booked at the front desk on the day, and the special rooms each have an open-air bath of their own filled from the Kawaguchiko hot spring.

The rule is published in English only; the Japanese pages are silent. Private baths: the Fuji-view hinoki bath, 50 minutes, 3,850 yen, booked on the day at the front desk; and a lake-view barrier-free bath with a bathing hoist, four washing places and room for four or five, 60 minutes, 4,400 yen, booked in advance. Both are Kawaguchiko onsen water piped in. Private baths are not available before check-in or after check-out. Large bath 14:00–24:00 and 5:00–10:00. Outdoor pool in summer only.
