Does Ryokan Ohashi allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Ohashi was finished in 1932 and has barely been altered since, and the spring rises directly under the floor, which is why so many of its rooms have a tub of their own.

Nothing on the Ohashi site speaks to tattoos, and its shared baths should be treated as unanswered. What the inn does publish is a floor plan of rooms with their own water. The open-air rooms take 60°C spring water straight from the ground under the building, Ume and Nanten have onsen tubs indoors, and the top suite, Gotou, has a hinoki tub fed from the same source. Booking one of those rooms is the way through here.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the rooms page lists which rooms carry spring water)

Read on: o-hashi.net/rooms

Best for: Someone who wants to sleep inside a 1932 building that is on the national register

The rooms page warns that the open-air rooms differ from one another, that you cannot pick one, and that a guaranteed room costs an extra ¥2,200. Every room in the house was built to a different plan by the same temple carpenters. Winter driving needs snow tires from December through March, which the inn says on its FAQ.

Booking through this button costs you nothing extra and sends a small commission our way — it’s what keeps this guide free for our tattoo community, and every policy on it checked. Thank you.
