Noboribetsu Onsen, at the top of the valley past Sekisuitei All-suite onsen hotel, every room with its own hot-spring bath

Does Bourou NOGUCHI Noboribetsu allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Fifty square meters minimum, a hot-spring tub at the window of every single suite, and a house rule that nobody under thirteen comes through the door.

Every room here has a hot-spring bath, which the hotel states in its own FAQ in one line, so the question of the shared bath never has to come up. No tattoo rule is published for the communal baths and none is needed for a stay. The house takes no one under thirteen, so this is a couples-and-adults answer rather than a family one.

Sapporo to Noboribetsu Onsen is about 1 h 45: the Suzuran, JR’s limited express (a faster train with fewer stops and a fee on top of the fare), then a Donan bus of 21 minutes up to the onsen terminal. Toyako Onsen is the Hokuto, the limited express to Hakodate, as far as Toya, then a Donan bus of 24 minutes around the lake, about 2 h 20 in all. Niseko is about 3 h 25 by way of Otaru and Kutchan, or a direct highway coach for less money. Jozankei has no railway: the Jotetsu Kappa Liner runs there from Sapporo Station in 56 minutes and is booked in advance. Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the 客室について block of the hotel’s own FAQ)

Read on: bourou.com/faq/

Best for: A suite where the hot-spring tub looks out over the valley and nobody else ever uses it

All suites are 50 square meters or more, in a twin layout for two or a Japanese-Western layout for four. The FAQ says guests aged 12 and under are not accepted: “12歳以下のお子様(乳児・幼児を含む)のご宿泊はご遠慮いただいております。” Booking.com carries the property as Adult Only for the same reason. The shared bath runs from check-in at 14:00 to 10:00 the next morning with no men’s and women’s swap. The spring is a sulfur spring of the hydrogen-sulfide type. Free shuttle buses run daily from Sapporo Station and New Chitose Airport, reserved through the hotel.
