Does Noboribetsu Onsenkyo Takinoya allow tattoos? In a private bath

Four springs in one old ryokan of thirty rooms, and a deck outside twelve of those rooms with a tub running free-flowing spring water day and night.

Takinoya has thirty rooms and twenty-seven of them come with a bath: twelve with a free-flowing open-air tub, fifteen with an indoor one. Nothing about tattoos appears anywhere on the inn’s site, so the two shared bath floors are not something this page can vouch for. The room is the answer, and at this house it is the usual room rather than the exception.

Where it is

Sapporo to Noboribetsu Onsen is about 1 h 45: the Suzuran, JR’s limited express (a faster train with fewer stops and a fee on top of the fare), then a Donan bus of 21 minutes up to the onsen terminal. Toyako Onsen is the Hokuto, the limited express to Hakodate, as far as Toya, then a Donan bus of 24 minutes around the lake, about 2 h 20 in all. Niseko is about 3 h 25 by way of Otaru and Kutchan, or a direct highway coach for less money. Jozankei has no railway: the Jotetsu Kappa Liner runs there from Sapporo Station in 56 minutes and is booked in advance. Two DW-type Japanese rooms of 92 square meters and ten D-type Japanese-Western rooms carry the open-air bath; two CW, one CY, six AW and six AY rooms carry an indoor bath; three B-type Western rooms have none. The inn draws four springs, sulfur, iron, salt and radium, into a top-floor bath called Kumoi-no-yu (14:00–22:00 and 05:00–09:00) and a basement garden bath called Jien-no-yu (15:00–24:00 and 05:00–10:00). Takinoya runs Tamanoyu down the hill as its annex. Its access page was offline for maintenance on 16 September 2026 and OpenStreetMap has no entry for the building, so no coordinate is recorded here.
