Does Noboribetsu Sekisuitei allow tattoos? In a private bath

A hotel spread over three wings with bath halls on the seventh and eighth floors, and in the basement of the Sakura wing five small baths that lock behind you for fifty minutes.

Five reservable hot-spring baths in the basement of the Sakura wing, booked by the hour, are the answer at Sekisuitei. The hotel publishes no tattoo rule for its two big bath floors, so those are left alone here. It does publish a detailed bathing-garment provision, but that provision is written for surgical scars and the hotel does not extend it to tattoos.

Where it is

Sapporo to Noboribetsu Onsen is about 1 h 45: the Suzuran, JR’s limited express (a faster train with fewer stops and a fee on top of the fare), then a Donan bus of 21 minutes up to the onsen terminal. Toyako Onsen is the Hokuto, the limited express to Hakodate, as far as Toya, then a Donan bus of 24 minutes around the lake, about 2 h 20 in all. Niseko is about 3 h 25 by way of Otaru and Kutchan, or a direct highway coach for less money. Jozankei has no railway: the Jotetsu Kappa Liner runs there from Sapporo Station in 56 minutes and is booked in advance. Best for: Five private baths in one building, so a booking is realistic even on a full night

3,300 yen including tax per room for a 50-minute turn, 15:00 to 23:00, and the same floor has a reservable ganban-yoku room. Day-use bathing is 1,200 yen for adults and 600 for children, 05:00–09:00 and 11:00–19:00, and the hotel sells a day-use season pass at 11,260 yen a month. The bathing-garment page is explicit that the garment is for people with scars from breast cancer surgery, tumors or skin grafts, and that guests must bring their own. The spring is the Oku-no-yu source, 60.9°C at pH 5.4. Sekisuitei is a Noguchi Kanko property, like Bourou NOGUCHI up the same road. Reservations run through the Noguchi Kanko central number rather than a hotel line; the number printed in the site footer is the fax.
