The bath

One thing to know before you book: the building is being refurbished floor by floor from 25 May to 27 November 2026 — rooms, lobby, corridors and the bath itself. The hotel says the bath stays open as normal through the works, and warns of noise, vibration and smells in the daytime.
The hotel
270 rooms, check-in 15:00 and check-out 10:00. Every room has WOWOW free on the television. Breakfast is free and a proper buffet, Japanese and Western, of thirty-odd dishes.

Two minutes from exit 5 of Bashamichi STN on the Minatomirai line, or nine from the north exit of JR Kannai. Minatomirai, the Red Brick Warehouse and Chinatown are all within a short walk or one stop.

A chain rule, and the most generous seal of any hotel chain
Route Inn sets this once for the whole group — Route Inn, Grand, Ark and Grand Vrio alike — and states it plainly: tattooed guests may not bathe unless the tattoo is completely covered with a cover seal. The seal it sells at every front desk is 11.4×20 cm, the largest allowance of any hotel chain on this site, and no maximum number is published. The chain adds the limit itself: a tattoo too extensive to cover is refused, so a forearm piece passes and a sleeve does not.
Because it is a chain rule, every Route Inn with a daiyokujo works the same way, which makes the chain the reliable budget option in a city where policy otherwise changes at every door. The seal is bought at the desk, so buy it at check-in.
What happens when you arrive
Cover the tattoo completely before you go in, with a seal that fits the size the property allows — that figure is in the policy line at the top of this page, and it is the property’s, not ours. Where the seals are sold at the front desk, buy them at check-in rather than at bath time; where they are not, bring your own. A seal that does not cover the whole tattoo counts as no seal, and staff are within their rules to turn you away at the door. Nothing needs declaring, but nothing may show.
