Does Candeo Hotels Tokyo Roppongi allow tattoos? Yes!
Tattoos are welcome in the rooftop sky spa, with nothing to cover. There's no size limit.
The hotel lifted its restriction on tattoos and body art on May 24, 2023, and the notice is still on its spa page.
The bath
The bath is on the roof, in a two-story room glazed on every side, including the ceiling. You bathe under open sky in the middle of Roppongi. The stone is pale and the water looks turquoise against it.
The two sides don't get the same view, so it's worth knowing which one you're walking into. From the men's outdoor bath you look at Tokyo Tower. From the women's, Roppongi Hills. At night, this is what people come for. The saunas differ too. A dry sauna and a cold plunge on the men's side, a mist sauna on the women's. The spa took a special award at SAUNACHELIN in 2020.
The outside glass has a privacy film, so no one outside can see in. Plenty of shower stations, so there's rarely a wait, even right after check-in.
It's open from 3 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next morning, about 20 hours, with the saunas closed from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. Guests only.
The hotel
A compact Roppongi business hotel with small rooms and a roof that is the reason to book. Rooms run from a 16 m² Executive Queen (some with a terrace) through an 18 to 20 m² Executive Deluxe King on a 2.2-meter Simmons bed, to a 20 m² Executive Twin, with high-floor versions of the king and twin. Each takes up to two adults, or three in a twin, plus two children sharing beds. Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. Breakfast is a broad buffet.
Good to know
- No towels at the spa. Carry one up from your room, and go in the room wear the hotel provides.
- Join CLUB CANDEO for free. It moves checkout to noon and puts you in line for an early room.
- A sky bar lounge shares the top floor with the spa.
- No parking of its own. Come by train.
Getting there
The hotel is at 6-7-11 Roppongi, at Exit 3 of Roppongi Station on the Hibiya and Oedo lines. The other exits are a few minutes farther.

Exit 4a toward Roppongi Intersection is three minutes; Exit 7 toward Tokyo Midtown is five. Tokyo Station is about ten minutes away.
