Does Mitsui Garden Hotel Shiodome Italia-gai allow tattoos? Yes!
Tattoos are welcome in the 13th-floor bath, with nothing to cover. No seal and no size limit.
The hotel's own bath page says it has dropped its limits on body art and tattoos, with no condition on size or placement.
The bath
The bath takes the 13th floor, and the hotel keeps it plain: one calm range of color throughout, and large windows letting soft daylight across the water. It's the quietest room in the group's Tokyo set. No concept, no installation, no view being sold, just height and light.
No sauna, no open-air side, and heated water rather than a spring.
Open from 3 p.m. through to 9 a.m., closing after checkout, free to guests, with towels from your room.
The hotel
Self-rated four-star, in the small Italian-styled quarter behind Shiodome, and the hotel plays along. The design concept is Italian cities, from the lobby art to the elevator doors. Every room is a 25.7 m² Superior, as a king, a twin or a three-bed, and some of the twins face Tokyo Tower. Rooms take up to three. Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m.
La Marea, the Italian buffet and café, is the one restaurant: more than 50 dishes at a time, from pizza and croissants to beef curry and Japanese options. The bath is on the 13th floor, and there are self-service laundries on the 11th and 12th.
Good to know
- Open straight through the night. 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. in one window rather than two sessions, so a 3 a.m. bath is possible.
- A powder corner on the women’s side, with a large mirror and skincare laid out.
- Five stations, five lines. Shiodome, Onarimon, Hamamatsucho, Daimon and Shimbashi are all within ten minutes on foot.
- Thirty minutes from Haneda. The monorail runs into Hamamatsucho, eight minutes away, the shortest airport run in this set.
Getting there
Five stations sit within ten minutes, and they're on five different lines. Shiodome on the Oedo line and Yurikamome is the nearest, out of exit 8. Onarimon on the Mita line is seven minutes, Hamamatsucho and Daimon eight, and Shimbashi ten.

Onarimon on the Mita line is seven minutes, Hamamatsucho and Daimon eight, Shimbashi ten. Haneda about thirty minutes by monorail to Hamamatsucho; Narita about seventy by Narita Express.
