Men only, and the platform listing says so in the property name. The water is a radon spring the operator calls Kawaramachi Gion Onsen and describes as free-flowing from the source. The complex runs 24 hours. Bathing alone is 1,200 yen for an hour, 1,950 yen for three hours with towels, 2,100 yen for the 3:00 to 10:00 morning slot and 2,800 yen for the 10:30 to 24:00 free-time pass; a capsule with bathing starts at 3,600 yen. There is a cold bath at about 8 to 10 degrees in summer and 10 to 13 in winter, a massage room, an oxygen box and a comics corner.

Route Inn publishes one rule for every hotel in the group and states the exception in the same breath: tattoos are refused, except where a cover seal hides them completely, in which case the large bath may be used. The group does not say it supplies the seals, so bring your own. The same answer allows bathing garments made for surgical scars at every property in the group.

The bath here is not a hot spring and the hotel says so: it is an artificial radium mineral bath called Tabibito-no-yu, made with a quasi-drug preparation the operator names Radihope under approval number 47D-447. It runs from 5:00 in the morning to 2:00 the next morning, is split by sex, and the women’s side takes a keypad code. Guest-room televisions show how busy it is.

APA refuses tattooed bathers and then names the exact exception: up to two of the chain’s own point cover seals, each 10cm by 12cm, and if the tattoo disappears under them the bath is open. Guests get two seals a night free at the front desk, handed over one night at a time rather than all at once, and the rule says to come to the desk each time you bathe. The chain also warns that anyone found inside with a visible tattoo will be removed.

The bath is called Sanuki-no-yu, a top-floor view bath on a source the hotel names Kuko Onsen, reheated and on circulating filtration. It opens 6:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 24:00 and is for overnight guests only, with no day tickets. There is a sauna, a cold bath and a medicated bath on each side, and a rest room between the two changing rooms that is getting a card-key lock during autumn 2026. The hotel has 157 rooms and runs a free airport shuttle on a first-come basis.

Ten of the forty-five rooms have a bath of their own: three Japanese-Western rooms and five Japanese rooms with a tub cut from a single slab of granite, one room with a boat-shaped open-air tub, and the top suites with a cypress view bath. Those are on the hotel’s spring water and they settle the question without a policy. Three other rooms have an open-air jacuzzi that the hotel says plainly is not spring-fed. Nothing on the site addresses tattoos in the panoramic shared bath.

The designer rooms and the Ao-no-Rakuen sky suite have an open-air jacuzzi rather than a spring bath, and the hotel writes it out: こちらの露天ジャグジー風呂は「温泉給湯」ではございません. The spring is a sodium hydrogen-carbonate cold mineral water. The shared bath is a panoramic one looking over the Inland Sea and the city; the sky lounge off the lobby has a free foot bath. Forty-five rooms in all.

Every room in the house has a spring bath in it, which the hotel puts at the top of its own room page and repeats on its spring page. The Japanese rooms have a full bathroom with a washing area and a deep tub; the Western twins have a unit bath on the same water. The hotel is careful to say these are indoor tubs, not open-air ones. That structure answers the question without touching the rule for the shared bath, on which the hotel says nothing.

The hotel adds the same caveat to every room type: 客室風呂は露天風呂ではございません, the room bath is not an open-air one. The spring is Shionoe water at pH 9.12, said to have been found by the monk Gyoki twelve and a half centuries ago. The shared bath, Ayame-no-yu, runs 11:00 to 23:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 and has an open-air section and a low-temperature steam sauna. Day-use bathing is 820 yen, with a discounted towel-included rate of 500 yen for entry before 20:00, rising to 600 yen from July 2026. There is a free rest room with massage chairs and a table-tennis room.
