Tattoo friendly onsen in Yunogo

The inns on this street say nothing about tattoos and the bathhouse that owns the source says no, so Yunogo comes down to baths booked by the slot. Chikutei sells its two to people who are not staying, 3,000 yen before tax for the bath on its own. Nishikien rents two open-air ones at 3,000 yen for two, in cash. Kifunosato puts real spring water in five of its rooms and rents an open-air bath for 2,750 yen, and Yunogokan Will Be hands out its slots at check-in.

Kifunosato publishes no tattoo rule, so the two large baths are a gamble. Its own Q&A is precise about what is private: five of its rooms have an open-air bath, and those room baths are the natural spring, while the unit baths in the plain Japanese rooms are not. The reservable open-air bath goes for 2,750 yen for 45 minutes.

The inn states plainly that the unit baths in the ordinary Japanese rooms are not spring water, so book one of the five. Reservable open-air bath 2,750 yen for 45 minutes, booked from 15:00. Large baths 15:00 to 24:00 and 5:00 to 10:00. Non-smoking throughout since 25 January 2025. Room dining is possible in the Japanese rooms and some of the open-air bath rooms for 2,200 yen a head, booked in advance.

Chikutei has a view bath that it says nothing about where tattoos are concerned, so leave it alone. It has two reservable baths that solve the problem instead, and it sells them to people who are not staying: 2,500 yen before tax for guests and day bathers on a plan, 3,000 yen for the bath alone. Some stay plans include one free. Rooms with a natural hot spring open-air bath are also on the books.

Reservable baths run 11:00 to 23:00 in 45-minute slots starting on the hour, one group at a time, booked by phone. 2,500 yen before tax on the guest and day-plan rate, 3,000 yen before tax for the bath on its own. Some stay plans throw one in. The view bath is open 11:00 to 24:00 and 6:00 to 9:30 and has a bench in the open-air section. Rooms range from a natural hot spring open-air bath room up to a plain 14-tatami room.

Nishikien publishes nothing about tattoos, and its two large baths, Kojo-no-yu for men and Yuzuki-no-yu for women, should be treated as closed. The two reservable open-air baths, Hana-no-yu and Kaze-no-yu, are the answer: 2,500 yen for 45 minutes if you are staying or eating there, 3,000 yen for two if you are not, cash only, booked ahead.

Reservable baths take two to four people. Guests and diners pay 2,500 yen for 45 minutes; visitors pay 3,000 yen for two, plus 500 yen a head after that, and the inn takes cash only for bathing. Day bathing in the large baths runs 15:00 to 21:30 at 1,000 yen for adults, with no towel included. The inn is candid about its water: the source arrives by pipeline from the Sagi Onsenkan well at 40°C, is chlorinated and filtered, is reheated, and water is added to hold the level.

The Sagi Onsenkan, the town’s own source bathhouse, refuses tattooed bathers and names fashion tattoos, and the refusal is printed above the fees for its two family baths, so read it as covering those as well. Hotel Yunomori refuses in its large baths and has nothing private to send you to instead. Nishikien is candid about its water: it arrives by pipeline from the Sagi well, chlorinated, filtered and reheated.

Can I use a shared bath in Yunogo with a tattoo?

No listing here covers one. The Sagi Onsenkan refuses outright, Hotel Yunomori refuses in its large baths, and the other inns publish nothing at all, which this guide does not read as permission. Everything listed in Yunogo is a bath you take by yourself.

Can I bathe in Yunogo without staying the night?

Which Yunogo rooms have their own spring bath?

Kifunosato has five 12.5-tatami rooms with an open-air bath, and its own answers page says those tubs run the natural spring while the unit baths in the plain Japanese rooms do not. Chikutei also sells a room with a natural hot spring open-air bath.

How do I get to Yunogo from Okayama?

Rail gets you close and the last mile is the problem. The Tsuyama line rapid Kotobuki reaches Tsuyama in 70 minutes and the JR Kishin line adds 23 more to Hayashino, 1,520 yen. The community bus on to Yunogo Onsen Kami takes five minutes and 150 yen but shows one useful departure, at 14:00.
