The shared baths are closed to tattooed guests, in the operator’s own words and without any seal exception. The way in is the top-floor suite, let to one party a day, which has its own open-air bath on the balcony. Book that room and the rest of the house rules about the bath do not touch you. Every other room type here sends you to the shared baths, so the suite is the whole answer.

Best for: A tattooed couple who want a bath to themselves with Kochi Castle in the window

The 露天風呂付スイートルーム is on the ninth floor, 8 tatami plus an 8-tatami twin bedroom, 2 to 5 people, one party a day. The open-air bath is a kame-buro cut from Shigaraki ware set with natural radium stone. The shared baths downstairs run 05:30 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 24:00, with a rock bath filled with Muroto deep sea water, a kamakura tub on the women’s side and saunas at night; day-use bathing is 1,000 yen. The house publishes no spring analysis and makes no onsen claim, so treat all of the water as heated, not thermal. Booking.com’s room table lists only the standard Japanese rooms, so the suite has to be asked for direct.

The house publishes no tattoo rule for its shared bath, which the guide reads as nothing rather than as a welcome. The answer here is the room: two suite grades and two deluxe grades come with their own open-air bath, and the top suites add a private sauna, a cold tub and a steam room. Book one of those and the shared bath is beside the point. Rooms marked シャワー付 or シャワー無 have no tub of their own and are not the way in.

Best for: A tattooed traveler who wants the Pacific in front of the tub and nobody else in it

Room grades with their own bath: TheManaスイート【露天風呂・サウナ付】洋タイプ and【展望風呂・サウナ付】和タイプ at 90 to 96 m², スイート【露天風呂・テラス付】ST, EX and CO at 48 to 80 m², and デラックス【露天風呂付】和室 and 和洋室 from 48 m². All rooms face the ocean. The shared onsen is あしずり温泉, a weak radioactive spring, and the hotel also sells day-use bathing daily 16:00 to 21:00 at 1,000 yen for adults, so the shared baths take outside visitors. The site does not say whether the room tubs are filled with spring water. The property traded as 足摺パシフィックホテル花椿 until its rebrand, which is why the booking slug still carries the old name.

Ashizuri Sunny Side Hotel

No tattoo rule is published for the shared bath downstairs, so treat that bath as unanswered. The annex called 岬の風 settles it instead: every room there is a two-storey maisonette with its own hot spring open-air tub on the deck, and the hotel says so on both its facility page and its FAQ. The annex tub is onsen water, not plain heated water, which is rarer than it sounds on this coast.

Best for: A private hot spring tub on a deck with the Kuroshio current running past below it

The 施設案内 page calls the annex rooms 温泉露天風呂付きメゾネット和洋室: a 7.5-tatami Japanese room with a loft holding two beds, reached by an internal stair, so the annex is not step-free. One annex room type takes dogs. The main building has ordinary tubs in the rooms plus a basement men’s and women’s bath with an attached open-air tub, on a simple weak radioactive spring; the hotel states plainly that the main bath cannot be reserved (貸切不可). Bathing 06:00 to 08:00 and 16:30 to 23:00, bathing tax 150 yen.

Shimanto-no-Yado

四万十の宿

The shared bath is closed to tattooed guests, and the inn says so on the page that sells day-use bathing, because the bath is shared with the day-use house next door. The way around it is the 風の棟 wing, whose four rooms each have a private open-air bath with two tubs, a cypress one and an old-style goemon one. The inn states in the same breath that this room bath is not hot spring water, and there is no rentable family bath anywhere on the property.

Note: The open-air tubs in the rooms are not hot spring water; the inn says so. The spring is in the shared bath, which refuses tattoos.

Best for: Soaking in a goemon tub in a stand of trees a short walk from the river mouth

Thirty rooms in all, of which four are 露天風呂付和洋室 in the 風の棟, sleeping four. The operator’s own words on the room bath: 露天風呂には檜風呂と昔懐かしい五右衛門風呂の2種類をご用意しております。(※お部屋の露天風呂は温泉ではございません。) The shared bath, 四万十いやしの湯, runs on trucked 新安並温泉 with a medicinal tub and a seawater open-air tub, 06:00 to 21:00 in summer and 06:30 to 21:00 in winter, guests from 05:30 to 23:00; the page also states 家族風呂・貸切風呂はご用意がございません. JR Shikoku ran the inn alongside the city-owned 四万十いやしの里 next door; a change of operator was announced in June 2026.

Ashizuri Thermae

ASHIZURI THERMAE アシズリテルメ

No tattoo rule appears anywhere on the site, including on the pages for the shared baths that take day visitors, so the shared bath is unanswered. Two room grades give you water of your own: the ocean-view room with a jacuzzi, which the hotel calls the only one it has, and the deluxe room with a private sauna on its terrace. Neither is a hot spring tub; the onsen here is only in the shared baths.

Best for: A jacuzzi to yourself with the horizon filling the window

Room grades: デラックスルーム 貸し切りサウナ付き, with a sauna on the terrace that is lit at night; ジャグジー付き オーシャンビュールーム, the only room with a jacuzzi; then グランドプレミア (32.6 m²), プレミア (22.9 m²), プレミアルーム and ツインルームテラス付き, none of which have a tub of their own. The shared baths are on a simple weak radioactive cold mineral spring, open to guests 15:00 to 24:00 and 06:00 to 09:00, and to day visitors 15:00 to 21:00. The hotel sits at the top of the hot spring village with a view said to span more than 270 degrees.
